I have become a member of the Department of
Earth and Planetary Sciences in Nagoya University for 3 semesters now, and as I
always feel, I did make a good decision.
My study area is not in Japan, but because of Nagoya's good geographical
location, I had chances to visit some areas along the Median Tectonic Line,
both East and West of Nagoya, only within few hours drive. I believe this
is also an advantage for different research groups at our school.
Our department has people coming from different countries, and thus we
have established a good environment for not only intellectual but also cultural
The research environment at the department is open and friendly.
Laboratories are easily accessible and ready for use. Since I started my study
at Nagoya University, I have been given a lot of freedom and opportunities in
the work approach as far as the direction is right. The experiences gradually
build up my courage and independence, which I believe are important elements
not only in conducting research but in dealing with daily life encounters.
